There is a complete building power shutdown scheduled to
begin at 4:30p (CST) on Friday evening, November 16th for the Kansas
City VFW building. The purpose of this email is to share with you the impact
this shutdown will have on the various information and technology systems and
when you can anticipate them being unavailable. Please keep in mind that while
the Washington DC office will not be directly affected by the power down itself,
many of the services listed below are provided to the DC office from the KC
office and therefore may not be available. All times listed are Central
Standard Time. (CST)
The following is a timeline of when services will be
unavailable Friday November 16th :
Website, OMS – these systems will become unavailable
at 4:30p. A backup of website data will be completed prior to it shutting down
to capture all of the Online Membership transactions that were submitted during
the day. All Department Headquarters should notify their membership that the
website will be unavailable during this time frame and will be unable to submit
membership information until after the systems are restored.
Local Kansas City VFW Building Telephone (PBX) system
– this system will remain operational until 5:30p. We will then do a backup of
the telephone software and shut it down prior to the main building power
down.
The electrical power is scheduled to be restored to the
building by Saturday morning. IT staff will be here ready to restore these
critical information and technology services once all the electrical work has
been completed. If all goes well, we anticipate having all systems operational
by midday on Saturday.
