HIRING FAIR

Central Ohio Veterans Have Opportunities at Hiring Fair
COLUMBUS – Central Ohio veterans, active military and spouses can get themselves and their skills noticed by a number of large employers at the “Hiring Our Heroes” hiring fair hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and local partners March 19-20 at Veterans Memorial Auditorium.
Employers such as Battelle and GE will be represented at the free two-day event, which includes one day of workshops for resume preparation and interviewing skills.
The first day’s schedule runs from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and features discussions with former military leaders aimed at helping veterans leverage their military skills and experiences in the job market.
Workshops will be held that day to teach resume building, interviewing skills, and leveraging veterans benefits towards employment.
The second day is the actual job fair, to be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Information on veterans
benefits will also be available. Pre-registration is encouraged.
Job-seekers should bring a current resume and be dressed professionally.

VOICE OF DEMOCRACY

Carolyn Sowa, a senior at Maumee Valley Country Day School has been named a winner in the 2012 National Voice of Democracy Program and recipient of the $1,000 Department of Kansas and Auxiliary Robert R. Whipple Memorial Scholarship Award. Carolyn plans a career in journalism and she was sponsored by VFW Post 11115 in Maumee, Ohio. Congratulations, Carolyn, for representing Ohio in Washington D.C. Carolyn was awarded Ohio's first
place $8,000 scholarship at our MidWinter Conference in January in Columbus.
