WAKING WOUNDED

Don "Bubba" Abbott, husband of D4 President Becky, was taken to the hospital on Sunday with a throat problem and he couldn't swallow. Doctors did a procedure to help remove the infection and some scar tissue from the trache he had done last year. Everything looks good & he may be able to come home 7/28/10. They are waiting for the biopsy to come back. Please keep Bubba in your prayers. Cards can be sent to:

Past Department President Marti Bridges had surgery Tuesday (7/27/10) morning to open up her right carotid artery. Surgery went well and she should be home in the next day or two. Please keep her in your prayers. Cards may be sent to:

STATE GOLF TOURNAMENT

The Combs/Comedy State Golf Tournament was once again a great success. Post 3343 Clyde did an outstanding job hosting the tournament dispite the fact their post home was still under restoration after their fire.

There were 224 "golfers" that participated in the event.

The winner of the golf club raffle was Willie Eddeys from Post 5803 Van Wert.

Team Winners were:

First place Bob Campbell, Dave Camp (Post 66), Wayne Smith, Brad Meeker (Post 2984).

Second place Charles Bunker, Eric Bunker (Post 3265), John Leatherman, Bob Bauer (Post 8218).

Third place Brian Bishoff, Brian Priebe (Post 7572), Brent Shinabery, Bud Reed (Post 5803).

State Commander Sam Compton participated in this years event again with his "Sponge Bob" golf balls. But I understand his team did not use many of his shots.

Golfers present voted to award Akron the 2012 Combs/Comedy State Golf Tournament.

"CAME TO THE VA HOSPITAL WITH KEITH FOR A ROUTINE VISIT AND THEY END UP RUSHING ME TO THE ER!!!! WHATS UP WITH THAT!!!!

Lisa accompanied Keith Jeffers (Dept. Judge Advocate) to the VA Hospital for a visit as County Veterans Service Officer and ended up in the ER due to an rapid heart beat. The good news is that Lisa sames to be okay for now.

Donald D. Evans, 78, of Van Wert, passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2010 at the Lutheran Hospital in Cleveland. Arrangements are pending at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home and Crematory in Van Wert.
Don was our FT Wayne VAVS Repr. for Ft Wayne, IN VA Medical Center and past VFW District 2 Commander.

It is with sadness that I report the passing of Past Department President Chloe Williams. Chloe passed on 7/13/2010 at 4:20 pm. Funeral arrangements will be posted when available.

Just wanted to like everyone know hip revision went very well.
In July 6th & out July 9th. Therapy going very well also.
